DHC is built on the skills, enthusiasm, experience and innovation of its staff. DHC can draw on an extensive network of freelance specialists. This page contains a short profile of staff who regularly work on DHC projects.
Derek Halden
Derek Halden established DHC in 1996. He has over 16 years consultancy experience, including work within local government, 7 years experience with the Scottish Office and 3 years research experience as programme manager for traffic, transport, and safety research in Scotland with TRL.
Peter Mogridge
Peter Mogridge joined DHC from Northumberland County Council. He is a specialist on rural transport development and has been a frequent conference speaker. He has advised councils across the UK on rural transport partnership delivery and community rail partnerships. He also has 10 years experience as a software engineer.
Angela Curl
Prior to joining DHC Angela had three years experience with Atkins, where she worked on a variety of transport planning projects focussing mainly on accessibility analysis, GIS and social inclusion work. Angela is also undertaking a PhD at the University of Aberdeen, investigating how accessibility shapes the economy and society.
Jim Towers
Jim Towers is a Chartered Civil Engineer, and worked for Stirling Council for 17 years as a Transport Planning Officer. He was particularly involved with sustainable transport issues and helped to develop cross-service programmes such as Safer Routes to School and Physical Activity. He was the cycling officer for the council for many years, and was an active member of the Scottish Cycle Forum. During this period Jim took 3 years out to build fish farms in Bangladesh for the DfID (then ODA), and 1 year as a volunteer to help develop a community centre in India.
Peter George
Peter George is DHC's computing and software expert. He has been working for DHC over the past 12 months specialising in the development of web-based server applications and interfaces.
Freelance Specialists
Our core staff are supported by a wider range of other staff who have expertise in areas such as data and research, computing, economics, network management, psychology, engineering and design, and modelling. They contribute to projects when required.
